Why Was I Bachman? A question Stephen King answers in the introduction - he gives no good answer.
Why not? Seems to be it really.
It is important to realize that the Bachman books are slightly different from the other King books. They were written my an angry young man, they are generally darker than his other books, and don't count on a happy ending.
This edition is now out of print. If you buy 'The Bachman Books' now you will find a collection of 3 books. 'Rage' has been removed.
RAGE (out of print) It is about a school shooting, and after a copy of the book was found in the locker of a teenager, Michael Carneal, who had shot and killed several of his classmates King removed the story from print. If you ever see a copy of Rage in a single volume - buy it - they are now rare and a collectors treasure!
The remaining three stories are:
ROADWORK - A really upsetting book for anyone who loves their house. Made me cry. It is not scary in the monster set of the word, but very distressing. It tells the story of a man who is going to loose his house and place of work because of a bypass extension. He tries his best to stop the 'roadwork'.
THE RUNNING MAN - A story set in a terrible future, where people join game shows that will kill them. A very depressing view of the future that will make you cringe and hope for your children. A man joins the top rated show 'The Running Man' where the contestants have to stay alive for 30 days, with police, hunters, and the whole American population chasing him. He needs the money to save his daughter. Really makes you wonder what you would do for money if your daughter was dying.
THE LONG WALK - Another terrifying view of the future where people join a race where you are shot if you slow down.
All these books are depressing, and obviously the work of a depressed young man. They are upsetting, and at times terrifying. They are also amazing books. Well written. Fascinating, in the same way a car crash is.
Not to be taken lightly.
Horrible, but wonderful.

I was very, deeply, disappointed with this movie. I felt it had little to do with the series.
Firstly the animation had been 'improved'. Yes it looked nice, but for true Simpson's fans, it feels wrong. Far too good and 'shiny', it was not 'Simpson like'!
Then the story, well in traditional Simpson's style, the movie started with a small story (Homer buys a pig) which somehow transforms into a huge story. This was great.
But the main story was terrible. The rest of the world is very unhappy with how dirty Springfield is, Homer breaks the camels back when he dumps the pig dung in the river. The EPA then puts a giant 'bubble' over the town. Ridiculous. And it gets worse.
Miss able. Poor story, bad animation, very disappointing. I think it is a shame after the excellent TV series, that they made this, rather poor movie. A real shame.
But, any Simpson's fans will watch it anyway!

This is a GREAT movie. Following the antics of 4 teenage boys who are questing after the 'holy grail' that is sex.
After a terrible night when it seemed that the biggest geek in their school made it they decided to pack together to help each other 'get laid'.
OK this is not an original idea, not at all, but it is so well written that it feels original.
The humor is great as we watch each of them put ridiculous plans in action to try and get a girl! The acting is likewise first class.
The reason I think this works so well, is we can all relate to that awkward stage in our lives, as we are laughing at their ridiculous schemes maybe we are remembering the kinds of things we did, or tried to get a little love in high school!
A masterpiece, the best teen comedy ever produced. Watch it now, you won't regret it.
